If your into sport, whether it be running, walking , hiking or kayaking – you’ll want a good, secure place to keep your iPhone.
If your using your iPhone as part of your workout, you’ll want some sort of rugged, safe place to store your phone whilst your getting active.
The Belkin Armband complete with a key / coin holder!
If you tick any of the above boxes, then you’ll want to try an armband. We recently purchased the Belkin Sport Armband for the iPhone as part of our daily jogging regime. We needed a way of keeping the iPhone safe whilst we ran like the wind. And, as things can easily fall out of pockets, an armband seemed like the only reasonable option.
Our personal choice was the Belkin Sport Armband. The Belkin has a flexible, neoprene like strap that secures your phone to your arm very snugly. The iPhone fits inside this elasticy material, with a thing 1 or 2mm thick layer of clear plastic provides full access to the iPhone controls and also offers some minimal water resistance.
The nature of the armband means that you can conceal your iPhone under a jumper or t-shirt as we do. These makes you less of a target for muggers and evil people. Under a jumper your device is undetectable.
Having said that, Belkin have attached a ring of reflective strip around the front ‘window’, in order to make you seen at night. A good idea, but it does also seem to shout “look at me, I have a $500 device strapped to my arm”.
The straps are covered in velcro and provide a wide range of adjustability. This product would fit a small child or your grandma with her 6 foot bingo wings. Once attached the armband keeps your iPhone firmly in place, with little movement. When we tested this, we went for a 3 or 4 mile run, and the device doesn’t move about as you pummel your arms. This is very good, as constantly re-adjusting something like this would be a pain. Once attached it’s barely noticeable. It’s also very comfortable and feels very solid in the hand. You may wish to give it a swill through some warm water every so often and leave to dry to keep it clean and smelling fresh.
All in all, this is a fantastic product, and we highly recommend it. The armband will keep you within reach of changing your music whilst on a run or paddling your canoe. We chose to wrap it around our upper arm, but it could quite easily adjust to fit around your forearm. We highly recommend the Sportband for any Apple-loving-active-person!
What’s more, the Armband costs between ($20 and $40) making it highly affordable!
