Just what are Apple planning for the new iMacs?
If you plant your ear to the floor, you might hear some interesting and unique stuff. You may have heard that Apple have already started producing the new iMacs. You may also have heard that the new models will have Blu-Ray. But now sources are making a huge U-turn, and telling us that Blu-ray wont ship on new iMac’s. Ouch.
It’s likely that if Blu-Ray does make it through the development process, it will be available as an add-on when purchasing your mac online and likely at a pretty hefty price. Having said that, the PS3 has a blu-ray reader and the price isn’t massively extortionate.
But on a more upbeat note, we could see the all-in-one become the first Apple ‘consumer’ model to get quad-core CPU’s. The CPU’s clock in at 1.6GhZ, 1.73GhZ and a pricier 2.0GhZ. Incidentally, they will probably be Intel’s new Core i7 ‘Clarksfield’ processors. Don’t expect a cheaper, quad core imac though. Its not feasible. That’s all for now

The PS3s, however, are sold at a loss.

I have been an Apple user since the 80’s. I was so very much hoping that this new iMac would come with a Blue-Ray burner, like the all-in-one Window has. I make HD movies and would love to burn them on Blue-Ray for quality purposes. I have kept all my original mini tapes, just in case it does happen. Was even looking for an external burner, but nothing is compatible with Apple. Too bad.
WHEN WILL THAT EVER HAPPEN?
