Littlesnapper review

LittleSnapper is a screen and web capture tool for Mac OS X. Today we’re reviewing this wonderful app!

Wow its 4p.m all ready! Today, we have Littlesnapper for Mac on review. LittleSnapper is a quick, easy to use image capture tool for the mac. You can find more information about LittleSnapper here.

LittleSnapper is a lovely app all-in-all. Very lightweight. Very simple. It does a limited number of functions, but does those supremely well. The app itself looks very nice. I think that’s quite important, because I note a lot of web designers use it to gather inspiration libraries – collating designs and little, well, snippets of elements they’d like to store. The beauty of the app is it’s simplicity.

So lets take a quick look at the different features available. LittleSnapper runs in the background (and is quickly accessible via the icon in the dock). If you learn the short-cuts (a few of which are a tad complex (and difficult to achieve)) but these can easily changed via the preferences to something more memorable.

Once installed your ready to roll. Simply start browsing, looking for inspiration and snap away! Viewing your images back looks great in the Edit Mode, which also allows for super easy and professional looking annotations and simple picture editing.

Making super-quick annotations. There are other features here too, like highlighting boxes, crop, arrows and even a blur tool!

All the effects used at once, a good demonstration, but I don’t recommend it!

Editing images in this way takes seconds. This makes it ideal for collating quick information and notes on a design.

Browser

If you ever find yourself needing to take a screenshot of a website as a whole, you can use the LittleSnapper Browser. Simply type in the address, and hit the Camera icon. Your image is saved when you hear the pleasing shutter sound. This feature is ideal for those of us who are always making screenshots of sites for blog posts and similar.

Collections

Using collections allows you to organize snaps into sets. This would work well if you wanted a specific project related collection. Of Course you can tag and search for photos too, because eventually you might have quite a lot!

Sharing Pics

LittleSnapper has inbuilt sharing, which supports Flickr, Ember and FTP. This is a great tool if you then want to share snaps with the world, such as close friends or colleagues over Flickr. A very clever, and simple idea.

All in all then, I can’t fault this app what so ever. I heartily recommend it to anyone who ever needs to take more than a few screen snaps. The organization and sharing features really add to the app, but the Image Editor is the real hero feature for me. This alone is worth the $35 asking price.

To sum up in one sentence, this app is awesome and I think anyone who uses the Internet should buy it.
