Apple recently marked the one billionth application has been downloaded from its App Store.

Connor Mulcahey, age 13, from Weston, CT downloaded Bump, a free social networking application released just on March 27th. Connor has been given a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod touch, a Time Capsule and a MacBook Pro to honour the event.

Only nine months old, the App Store holds 35,000+ applications and is constantly growing along with its upgrades for upcoming iPhones and iPods.
From the press release: “The revolutionary App Store has been a phenomenal hit with iPhone and iPod touch users around the world, and we’d like to thank our customers and developers for helping us achieve the astonishing milestone of one billion apps downloaded,” Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing Philip Schiller said. “In nine months, the App Store has completely revolutionized the mobile industry and this is only the beginning.”

It sure is. And we can’t wait.
