More iPad 3 rumours are running amok. The latest seems to be coming from the Wall Street Journal, indicating the iPad’s new size.
The article in the Wall Street Journal claims Apple is testing a smaller iPad–eight inches to be exact. SuppliersĀ informed the Wall Street Journal that Apple has recently showed them new designs for a more compact iPad with a screen resolution that is similar tot hat of an iPad2. The smaller device, supposedly, will be equipped with LG Display and AU Optronics on the panels. Notable, though, that this is a prototype and it may not come to fruition.
Previously, Apple has tested out smaller tablet sizes, though eventually settled on the current 9.7 inch. This may broaden what it has to offer and, inevitably, create more competition in the market.
They use parts from other outside suppliers, most of which stem from Asia; these sources have supplied this information.
The new iPad is set to be announced in early March, we hear, and we already have succumbed to the runours of a higher-resolution screen, with different information regarding the screen size.
Because of their current rivals, specifically Samsung Electronics Co., as well as Amazon.com, putting out a smaller tablet would certainly broaden what they are currently offering. Analysts explain that if there is a tablet with a smaller screen, it will certainly help expand Apple’s current market share in what is clearly a competitive market.
Currently, Samsung’s 5.3-inch Galaxy Note, and Amazon’s 7-inch Kindle are touting that route. It is clear that consumers are also looking for a tablet of this size, something smaller than what currently exists with the iPad. Samsung also offers a seven inch, 8.9-inch, and 10.1-inch version.
Price is also a factor; the Kindle Fire, for example, is just priced at $199, a savings of $300 to the entry-level iPad.
In the quarter that ended in December 2011, Apple hit new sales and profit records that were based on runaway holiday demand for both the iPhone and iPad.
In addition to these smaller iPad rumours, though, there are plenty of other things we’d like to see on the new iPad.
Now that we’ve been spoiled by the iPhone 4S’s retina display, we’d decided we want one here, as well. Though the screen is nice enough, an improvement would make a lot of difference, especially in seeing the details.
The iPhone 4S has actually spoiled us with a lot of things, including a better camera. Though we already love the iPad 2′s front and rear-facing cameras, the camera itself, well, isn’t very good. It’s grainy at best, but equivalent to old-school digital cameras. An upgrade here would be nice, too.
For folks that go for the 3G over the Wi-Fi, we want an upgrade in that area, as well. Think of the 4G, Apple. There is, indeed, some speculation that the new iPad 3 will include a 4G/LTE wireless connection, which is good, because building on future technology is certainly what needs to be done. Having 4G would mean significantly quicker data speed, but what comes with this is more of a battery drainer, so Apple would need to take care of that, as well.
And finally, we could all use a little more Siri in our life. She is helpful, she is smart, she is understanding. Because of favourite virtual friend is on the latest smartphone, we wouldn’t be surprised if she made an appearance on the new iPad, too. We want her to be more in our life, make our appointments, and cater to our needs.
We’ll keep you updated as further news progresses about the advancements and rumours for the new iPad 3.
