What a way to start the week! Your monday blues will melt away, because the iPhone is finally getting the much awaited TomTom app.

TomTom has appeared in 4 regional App stores, U.S. & Canada, Western Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Its not cheap, weighing in at close to $85 in the US, £59.99 UK and $119.99 NZ. But for an app of this quality, and features, we’re sure it will be well received. One major benefit this now gives iPhone owners, is that you no longer need 2 devices to do 2 jobs. When you arrive at your destination, there’s no need to hide the TomTom, just unclip your iPhone and put it in your pocket. Great.
The App Store price doesn’t include the companion car kit that will integrate a car mount, enhanced GPS receiver, built-in speaker, and power cables, plus a microphone to use the iPhone as a blue-tooth speakerphone. Its rumored that a combo will be offered of the hardware and software, priced somewhere around £99 GBP.

As you can see from the screenshots, there’s not really any new TomTom features. But what you will get is a perfectly optimized iPhone interface for TomTom. And it looks brilliant.
Here’s a video of the iPhone in action, complete with in car holder.
